Carnauba Wax Flakes - 100g T3 Premium Grade 100% natural  Colour:  Medium Yellow / light golden Brown Melting Point 84°C. High quality wax with many uses in the food, pharmaceuticals, polish and cosmetics industries.Larger quantities of Carnauba wax can be purchased from our shop.  Known as the "queen of waxes” the Carnauba wax is the hardest known natural wax in the World, yet its compatible with most animal, vegetable and mineral waxes and used with a wide variety of natural and synthetic resins; hence its wide commercial usage. Carnauba is hard wearing and gives a high shine when used in both car and furniture polishes while its hypoallergenic properties make it suitable for cosmetics, where it is commonly used in lip balms, lipsticks and body lotions. Carnauba can also be used in candles to increase the burn times and is also popular for making surfboard wax.  Carnauba wax is obtained from the outer waxy coating of palm fronds from the Copernicia Cerifera (the Brazilian Carnauba Palm).  The fronds are collected twice a year in September and December and the wax is extracted by separating from the frond with mechanical beaters. A maximum of twenty leaves can be collected during each of the two yearly cutting seasons. On average these twenty leaves only produce 1kg of Carnauba wax. The colour of the wax is determined by the age of the leaves when harvested and ranges from pale yellow (new, unopened leaves) to greenish brown (older leaves exposed to sun and weather). The pale yellow wax is the highest grade of Carnauba available   To make you own wax polish (also called woodturners paste) is very easy; dissolve Carnauba flakes & Beeswax pellets in Turpentine (not turps substitute)   There are many recipes on the internet for making wax polish, I have written below the most popular method   500ml Turpentine (often called Artists Turpentine) 100g Beeswax pellets / beads 30g of Carnauba Wax Melt the wax in a double boiler then remove from heat and allow to cool, but not harden*   Add the turpentine and stir well with a wooden spoon. Pour into jars (or tins) seal and allow to cool fully before use.    * Melting the wax first is optional, (its just quicker) you can just leave the turpentine to dissolve all the wax if you prefer. Yellow beeswax is available from our shop.  Please note: We post to all locations with Royal mail. Courier delivery for this item is available to Mainland England & Wales only.  Endless Green Group Ltd is an established family business, registered in England & Wales No 7836553.  We offer a range of products at competitive prices, combined with a fast and friendly service.
